Volunteer during semester off

Question

I would like to volunteer during my semester off for a good cause. I know that Habitat for Humanity and Americorps has a program that pays for your living costs and the program lasts for one year. Are there similar programs to this that you can suggest? I am willing to do a program that lasts up to a year. It must cover living expenses. I like that Americorps also gives you an education stipend.

Try checking out some paid internships in your area.  Some offer stipends or living allowences.  Check out idealist.org and volunteermatch.org.
