Volunteer grant writers?

This nonprofit agency needs a volunteer grantwriter. The proposal is already written-there a 3 variations. We need someone with the skill set and passion to research grants and apply for them on our behalf. We help at-risk youth heal and graduate from college. Our goal is to break the cycle of poverty and lower recividsm through education.

Additionally, we help other members of the population grow through specific healing techniques. We assist people complete their court-ordered community service hours.

  1. I don't understand what you're asking. Are you advertising here? In that case, it's against forum rules and you can't advertise. If you're asking where you can find somewhere to post this need, check out www.idealist.org as well as try googling "volunteer ____" with the name of your city in that space. You will probably find an organization you can post your request with.

Grant writing is time consuming and most people who are very good at it are paid for their work.  Contract your local school board and find out if they have any writers on staff.  Sometimes these people are willing to give you some pointers or even look at your proposal & offer suggestions.  They also may know of people who are just starting out in that work who may work on commission (write & then get paid when the funding comes in if their proposal is successful).  The cost of the writing is built into the budget of the grant.  Talk to other agencies in similar work, find out what they do, they may know of writers in your area.

  3. Peg has given good advice -- grant writers are usually professional, and charge for their work. Finding a grant writer who will provide their services pro bono can be difficult, because they are constantly asked for such donations.
