Question:

Volunteer hours for college..?

I have a question, when writing your college application do you have to have proof that you actually volunteered at places? When you volunteer at places, do they give you papers saying you volunteered for ___ hours? Cause I've volunteered at a few churches and nursing homes playing music, and I'm not sure how to record it when time comes.

Thanks!

  1. I did  not have to prove my volunteer exp. when applying to college, and I think that is the norm.  If the college does require proof, you could ask for the church or nursing home to write you a letter.  It would be wise to get a notebook and record your own hours for reference.  Good luck!

  2. Usually, listing them on your application is enough.  However, a letter of support from the organizations wouldn't be a bad idea.  Mainly because if the school chose to call the organization, you would want to be sure that they remembered who you were and the service your provided.  You don't have to get the organization to document your hours, just get them to document that you were there and that you provided a service to them, they are appreciative, etc.
