  1. Treat it as you would a paid job interview. One benefit of volunteer job interviews is that they help prepare you for employment interviews with real time experience.  That means dressing meatly and a bit on the conservative side.  Taking a list of the things you have done before as a volunteer and for paid work if anyincluding the place, the dates, who your supervisor was and contact info for the place.   Take at least 3 reference names and contact info.   If any specific skills are involved like photography, writing etc take some exxamples of your workl.   You'll need your ID too.   Be on time or a little early but not way early. Be polite smile.  Be able to explain why you want to volunteer there in particular.

  2. The other replies had good advice. I agree with them on treating it like a job interview - wear a suit if you have one, or a nice work-appropriate outfit.

Keep in mind that this is as much about finding out if you're a fit for them as it is finding out if they're a fit for you. So keep that in mind and you won't be so nervous! Good luck! I've done them many times before and it's really more of a discussion than a real interview.

  3. Always look your best. Remember first impressions last in the minds of everyone and says a lot about you. You don't have to dress up like a beauty queen but dress like you have class.
