Question:

Volunteer opportunities for a 15 year old?

I live in a fairly large city and am looking for a volunteer opportunity which i could participate in over the summer. I have already checked both the science museum and animal humane society but they require you to be at least 16. I applied at the childrens museum, but can you think of any other ideas?!

THANK YOU!

  1. Churches, homeless shelters always need help. Summer school programs. even helping your elderly neighbors

  2. Try searching 1-800-VOLUNTEER.org

  3. Contact your local city council office and ask if they have any opportunities for volunteering.

Contact the mayor`s office for the same reason.

Visit an old age home and see if they can use your services.

Soup kitchens may be able to use you if a parent can accompany you a few times.

Start your own volunteer army by getting some friends together and deciding what you would like to accomplish in your neighborhood or community. After an accomplishment or two, contact the news and tell them what you are doing.

  4. Join volunteermatch.com. They send you weekly updates on opportunities in your area that meet your specifications. You can search specifically for things for teens in your city and look for volunteer chances in areas that interest you- perhaps animals or children or senoir citizen care. I am 14, live in a fairly large city, and have found plenty of bothone-time and long term volunteer activities in my area.

It really is a great site. You get directly in contact with someone organizing the event and get quick responses and updates.
