Question:

Volunteer opportunities in Psychology?

For school, I'm required to complete 20 hours of community service per year. This year, I want to do something that interests me more than just volunteering at a school or a library. I'm interested in pursuing a career in Psychology. I'm going to start my Sophomore year of High School at the end of summer and I'm 15 years old. Are there any places that you can think of that would allow a fifteen year old to help out? My school requires that we do internships during our Junior and Senior years, so perhaps I'll just have to wait until then to find something related to the field.

Thanks for the help!

  1. Maybe a volunteer job with a Crisis Hotline or teen crisis hotline in your area could help with your interest in the psychology field. It would require you to do something like answer phone calls of people who are in trouble or need help....you will most likely have to go through some training. Try Googling an office near your house. I know there are some national ones but there should be some local ones too.

  2. ASPCA and pet shelters
