Im going to be a freshman mid August and, aside from the service hours i need to earn to graduate, i find it very gradifying to help people that arent as fortunate as me. I would specifically like to work with something that had to do with animals, little kids, and performing arts (acting, singing, dancing, stuff like that), but i have no problem working with other things. I like to work directly with people, but if i cant i have no problem working 'behind the scenes' Appropriate ideas are greatly appreciated.

  1. Join the Kiwanis Key Club at school.  Help people, and fun doing it.  :)

  2. Try a local community theater.  Many of them also have children's productions that they need volunteer help with.  Or see if your area has an arts council that could use volunteers.

Or contact your local humane society or ASPCA to work with animals, if you are old enough.  Some of them want the volunteers to be at least 16 years old.

Try your church or religious institution.  They are always looking for volunteers to work with children.

Contact the person at your school who is in charge of overseeing the volunteer hours and see if they have any suggestions.
