Volunteer work? How can i volunteer for Greenpeace, Habitat for Humanity or anything? Helping children in need

Hey, i'm trying to find volunteer work, i wanna help people, but i also would like to work for an organization that would look cool in my college application. Also, is there any way i could travel to Africa for free with some organization and work helping children. For some reason i really would like to help children.

Contact the organization you'd like to volunteer for and ask how you can help.  Or try the Volunteer Match web site to find an organization you can volunteer with.

As far as traveling to Africa for free to help with children, most organizations which do that want you to pay your own way so that the money they have can benefit the people they are going to serve.
