What I want to do is to set a goal to raise money for a nearby homeless shelter or some other needy cause.

I want to be able to set an organization.

How do I get other people in the area to help and be involved?

You could make posters, issue flyers.. Visit your local high schools, churches.. and spread the word around.

Ask the organization (homeless shelter or other nonprofit) for permission before you begin fundraising on its behalf. They may have guidelines for you to follow, and a protocol for you to follow regarding tracking and delivering donations.

If you are in school, organize your group officially at the school. Otherwise, you will need to work directly with the organization to organize your fundraising group.
