Volunteer work in the essex area!!?

Question

I am currently doing an open degree with the open university in child development and child learning and for the 2nd year of my course i need a to be working or volunteering at either a playgroup, primary school or cheche and i wondered if anyone could help me.

I live in the Romford/Chadwell Heath area and have contacted a few places but still not heard anything.

I would also be able to get a CRB too if needed.

Contact your local primary school and say you would like to be a volunteer to help the children learn to read.   I know my daughter's school is crying out for these sorts of volunteers.   It will help if you can explain why!    Ring (or go in!) and ask to speak to the Head or Deputy Head and offer your services!

Have you been police checked?    that would be useful - but the school can do this for free if you are a volunteer!

This is a long shot but trident do work experience for schools they might be able to give you some names of pre-schools that offer work experience.  If not aske at your local college they will have a list of pre-schools as well.

Also, if you have a local college that covers your area, that offers a childcare course, maybe you could ask them if they could give you contacts, some of the colleges cover quite wide areas.
