Okay, so for my summer project I have to get 10 volunteer hours. But were can I get them? Someone help, please. Because I need something where I can just get a few hours. And my teacher wants me to be "creative". I live in southeast Michigan.

Help!

  1. Nursing home

    soup kitchen

at animals shelters you now must be 18 years old to volunteer. Where I am the coordinator for the shelter, I don't take any one with less than 20 hours because it takes so much time to train.

  2. The library or an animal shelter?

  3. Soup kitchen, retirement home, hospital (if you're at least fifteen years old), or a community event.

  4. Hospital.

    Old Folk's home.

    Road cleanup crew.

    Coast Guard.

    Recyclers.

    Police ride alongs.

    Rotary Club.

  5. 16 is usually the minimum age for volunteering so you're in luck.  You have many options.  Check out volunteermatch.org for help in chosing what kind of work you want to do and locating the organizations in your area.  Also you can contact your local branch of United Way for information on specific activities that are happening this summer.

I always recommend volunteering for your local Food Bank.  Check out AmericasSecondHarvest.org to locate a branch near you.  YOu can do a lot of things there, a vairety of activities, and Food Banks collaborate with 100s of organizations.  So when you help a Food Bank, you are really helping so many more people than you realize.  Good luck!  Volunteering is a great experience!
