  1. Hi, I was just wondering are you in England and how old are you because I've been trying to get a placement but have been unlucky!

Anyway,I don't see why you should be nervous. Enjoy it because it will be something new and maybe even FUN to do, you'll meet loads of new people and you should feel really motivated and enthusastic about it especially if you're considerating to go to med school.

    Best of luck....

  2. Hi!

I volunteered for Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh for several years and I loved it.  I was nervous at first, but then I got the hang of it.  Don't be shy to ask questions to your volunteer manager.  The nurses are also usually very helpful.  Once you know exactly what you'll be doing and do it once or twice, you'll be fine.  Best of luck and keep doing great things!!

  3. I made it a policy a long time ago not to be nervous on the first day of doing something new.   Don't expect to remember everything.  Just go there with a good attitude and if you are uncertain, say, "Sorry, I'm new.  What am I supposed to do?  Can you explain that again?  Thanks......"  People will appreciate your goodheartedness and honesty.  Don't be afraid to be humble.  And don't tell everybody you are doing this because you want to be a doctor.....if people ask, tell them you want to see how hospitals work in case you might want to work in one some day.

  4. It's perfectly ok to be a little nervous.  But have some faith in yourself, too.  You'll be just fine.  Listen, take some notes if you need to, and just be yourself.  And don't be afraid to ask questions!
