Volunteering in my area?

i live in north bergen, NJ and well i have been bored pretty much all summer long.. since school ended.. does anybody know a place where i can volunteer like an animal shelter around my area? really close? im only 13.. turning 14 this friday.. if you know of any place could u give me like a link to the site.. or the name of the shelter? (i would loove an animal shelter cuz i love animals) =D
