Many many Volunteers in many fields do a lot of Hard work but only a few

orgs, offer them out-of -pocket expences. It is

Time that all Volunteers are compensated A minimum hourly rate would be nice. The government can afford to take out for their MPs so much in the way of generous perks :Surely The Government can make a good case for paying these workers at least a minimum Hourly rate . I believe the Volunteering groups and individuals are being taken advantage of..If pay were to be The Norm ,then many more people would join the Volunteer sector. Many higly qualified will become part of This huge body of Helping Hands .If the Volunteer does not wish to receive payment .he should be able to send it to a Charity of his own choice.

  1. whole point of v work is that its unpaid.

  2. That would make it a job.  People volunteer because of how it makes them feel inside - paying them would ruin that.  The exception being if the volunteer is asked to drive their private vehicle someplace for the charity and would be hardpressed to pay for the extra petro, a voucher could be offered.

  3. volunteers in my view should be paid 100 times their worth

but where are you gonna find someone to pay that amount

if i was a rich man which i am not (poor of the poorest)

    i would give every penny

its about time we as so called rich nations give even more to the people of china/Burma and every other person who don't have a HOME /FOOD /WATER  lets get this sorted

its a travesty and an obligation

    WHAT IF IT WAS YOU????????

    WHAT WOULD YOU DO

    THERE KIDS DYING OUT THERE

  4. Volunteering is a way of saying "thank you" to society.

Offering knowledge, experience, time, effort, comfort and all the things that money cannot buy.

Volunteers also man the lifeboats around our coasts.

What could you do - collecting donations is the easiest.

  5. Volunteers donate their time and the organisation that benefits from them has a duty to reimburse their travel expenses.

If they were to be paid for their time they would be employees, not volunteers!

Also, volunteers cannot be used in place of paid staff, they are an addition not a replacement.

  6. It would be a low paid job then instead of volunteering. There are lots of paid support work jobs that people can do and they pay a lot more than the minimum wage. All volunteers can claim expenses. For the volunteer jobs to be made into paid jobs people would have to stop working for nothing and start expecting to be paid. If you'll work for nowt, they'll let you.

  7. Most volunteers work for charities anyway....

  8. if they were paid minimum wage then how would they be volunteers?

  9. Why do you think they're called volunteers?!
