I own a 1996 850 Turbo It has 222 hp and is a rocket. Wagons come with the same engines.  Turbo's add about 50 hp

I can only tell you about the 1996 Volvo 850 sold in the US market.  It either has a 2.4L 5cyl with 168hp (Base and GLT trims) or 2.3L turbo 5cyl. with 190hp (Turbo trim).  I assume you don't have the T5, T5R, or R trim as they are less common.
