Volvo China Open: Simon Dyson finishes on the 36th position
After making the cut successfully, Simon Dyson finished tied for the 36th position, as he shot a 70 in the final round of the Volvo China Open.
The 34-year-old English processional golf player displayed an average performance in the event co-sanctioned by the European Tour and OneAsia Tour. The tournament was staged at the Binhai Lake Golf Club in Tianjin, China.
Dyson, who missed the cut at the Masters a week before and at the World Golf Championship – Accenture Match Play Championship, made the cut in China and recorded another top-50 finish in the current year.
The current world 36th ranked player teed off the tournament in China, on Thursday, and shot a 1-under 71, grabbing a massive lead.
Later, he improved his performance and shot a 2-under 70 by recording three birdies and one bogey on Friday.
His performance in the first two rounds saved him for being disqualified from the event. His impressive strokes and under par scores helped him move further, as he played the third round.
After making the cut, he displayed his best scores of the tournament in the third round and made an overall 4-under 68 for the day.
He picked up pace and reached among the top-50 on the leaderboard. Then, he further added a -2 in the final round and scored a 9-under 279 in total. He finished tied with Anthony Wall and Andrea Pavan.
Branden Grace is the proud winner of the tournament. He recorded his third European Tour victory in the current year, and on aggregate as well.
He scored a 21-under 267 and recorded his best performance of the 2012 season. He won his first title of the season at the Joburg Open, the second at Volvo Golf Champions and now added another victory to his profile.
Grace amazed the spectators and his fans by shooting a score of 64 in the third round of the Volvo China Open.
Nicolas Colsaerts is the runner-up and finished three strokes behind the leader. He scored an 18-under 270 and played well throughout the four-day tournament.
Dyson won six European Tour titles in the past and after finishing on the 36th, he is left with ample chances to add another victory in the near future.
Analysts said that he only needs to play impressively, score more birdies and remain consistent while scoring.
