  1. volvo

  2. I grew up in a volvo family and will always have a special place in my heart for them but I think these days it would be more affordable to get a honda.

I think that they are easier to fix and find parts for and if you are looking for a newer used car they are more affordable.

I also think it is really funny what slinkies said about volvo drivers because my mother drives a volvo and she is a TERRIBLE driver!!

  3. Volvos are great, safe cars, but extremely expensive to maintain and repair. Hondas are your better bet; reliable, cheap on gas and insurance and inexpensive to maintain.

  4. Honda. they last forever and there pretty safe. i wouldn't get a volvo

  5. honda ...

they have never failed me and they are easier to find a mechanic for ...

and every time i get behind a volvo, the driver can't drive worth c**p ...

  6. both cars are reliable only if you take care of it. I would say you are limited in the number of good volvo shops. besides the dealer. I would also say that you probably spend more on meintaining a volve than a honda. Part's are more expensive, labor is more expensive.

  7. Hondas are indeed very good, and they should last you a lifetime in terms of reliability. But they are not necessarily safe, especially the older models.

Volvos, on the other hand, are extremely safe, no matter which one you buy. But we own an old S70, and it is very very unreliable. Service costs are expensive and we never like going to the dealer to try to find every problem with the car. The engine, on the other hand, will last you a long time, some people go over 1 million miles in their volvos. They actually have a million miles owners club on the volvo website.

Our Volvo S70 gets around 20 mpg's on average, sometimes getting 25 on the highway. Hondas have very efficient engines, so they may get better mileage.

Now, in terms of price, our old volvo costs around 5 grand, and it's a 1998 model. You can probably get a reliable and safe used Honda for around 10 grand for a 2000 or earlier model.

    Good luck!

  8. Volvo has a reputation of being the safest cars but they have also gained a reputation of being mechanically unreliable.

they need more repairs and cost more to own than similar vehicles.

Honda is the more practical choice.

especially if your buying a used car, the Honda will need less repairs and cost less to own.

  9. Volvos are not as good as the pre 1990s cars.

  10. A honda will never break down, and most likely, neither will a volvo. A volvo is safer than a honda, but if you get into an accord style honda, safety becomes less of an issue. Both will last a long time and depending on which honda you get, the safety is basically the same. The gas mileage on a honda will be better than a volvo. So you will be going with a slightly less safety, yet great gas mileage with the honda. And with the volvo, you will get great safety, and still respectable gas mileage. Both will last forever.
