I have had to leave my cat with my cousin while I am living w/ my parents about a month ago now hes going outside and about 2 days ago now they say that he started vomiting and hes just laying around. He was an indoor cat and now she lets him outside. Hes eating, and drinking but he just wants to lay on the cool cement. I went to see him and he looked hot but he ate, purred and just wanted to be somewhere cool. Its been hot here the last few days and he is use to be an indoors and having a little fan of his own. I dont have money to take him to the vet and I really think its just the weather but I dont want anything to happen to him. So does anyone have any ideas i could try first or a vet that does payment plans? I love him hes my son but Im almost to the point where i have to give him away. I dont want to but i dont want him to die either.

  1. well obviously its one of two problems. one he was outside and got into something like poison or antifreeze if his nose has become pale and his body is week its a good idea to rush him to vet, if he is lathargic and panting heavy it means he is over heating...remember if you had to wear a fur coat in hot weather it would suck bad. Try to find him a nice cool dark place to hide and make sure he has lots of fresh drinking water. he might be better off outside if it is so hot because a house can work like a solarium, just make sure your friends are taking care of him and he is not being left inside without fresh water also you can buy nutritional milks for the cat, this might not be a bad idea to help him get his energy back. Good luck i love kitty's

  2. 1)

How old is the cat ?

    2)

    What breed is he ?

    3)

Has his diet changed much over the period that you have been apart?

    4)

Has he been eating plants/grasses/shrubs in the garden ?

    5)

Does he have access to a shady place, such as a ventilated box, where he can rest ?

    6)

Has he been prowling about of a night ?

    7)

You said that he has been (still is ?) vomiting. What colour and texture was it ?

  3. He may have hair balls..there are some over the counter things that can help....

  4. Is your cat up to date on his vaccines? If not he just got thrown outside into a world of major diseases. If your cat is vomiting take it to the vet!!!!!!!! There are a lot of deadly things that vomiting is a symptom of. Go get a thermometer and take a rectal temp. if the cat is above 103 degrees F or below 100 degrees F Go to the vet!!!!! Vomiting can not only cause dehydration but it can also make the blood PH get really high! Which can cause major problems too!

  5. nothing last forever Bless yore little heart' maybe a prayer might help Did you think to pray'

  6. MOST vets do payment plans. Please take your kitty in to be checked. I took my cat to the vet last month because of vomiting... they gave her a shot to help prevent her from vomiting and it only cost $40. My concern would be dehydration, if he is throwing up regularly.

Just tell the vet up front that you have money concerns, and they can work with you.

Good luck, I hope your kitty is okay :)

Just thought of this:  Is he eating the same cat food as before?

Make sure there are no poisonous plants outside that might be giving him a reaction.

  7. If the cat was strictly indoors, it never should have been let outside.  There's all kinds of things that could be going on here. The cat could have injested something poisonous.  Why did your cousin let him outside??????  If it were my cat, I'd be furious that he was let outside.

If he's vomiting and lying around, he can become dehydrated quickly.  If it's poison, it may already be too late.  Someone may have had mouse bait lying around & your cat ate that stuff or ate a rodent that injested it.  Anti-freeze leaking on the pavement is tempting to pets and your cat could have injested something like that even.

Please take him to the vet to be checked.  Put it on a credit card if you have to.

If it turns out he's okay, then still tell your cousin not to let him outside.  There's all kinds of potential dangers outdoors, not to mention him picking up fleas.
