  1. Vonage works by transmitting your calls over broadband internet. Assuming your sat connection is fast enough (about 128 kbps or higher I think) everything should be fine. The key word here is "broadband," which includes everything from ISDN to DSL to Cable to T1 to Sat

  2. Vonage "claims" their service will work over satellite Internet connections.  And, technically speaking, it should if the satellite provides high speed.

But, it is also well known that using VoIP over satellite connections often "leaves a lot to be desired".

The big issue is signal propagation delays and latency. And you can't get away from latency issues when it comes to satellite communications - it doesn't matter whose VoIP service you use - it will be an issue.  It is just a matter, is it good enough for you?

Before you jump in and "sign contracts" with Vonage, test your Internet connection using a pay as you go, no obligations service before committing to Vonage.

Test with Skype, Yahoo Voice, Gizmo Project, or InPhonex or CallCentric (links in my profile) before committing to a contract.  If any of these services give you good voice comm quality, then - go for it sign up with Vonage.

The real issue here is not who you sign-up with, but will you get good enough results with satellite Internet as the transport medium.
