my nightmare with vonage, begins with a telephone call to my residence, I have to admit I was already pondering switching to this company so when they called me It seemed convenient. I switched, I was never told I wouldn't have 911 service and I have 2 elderly people here that if something happend while I was out they wouldnt have been able to dial for emergency service. I was never told i was in a 2 yr. contract I could never get the service up and running, 3 days after the 30 day trial thing I call, they send a tech to install he says he installed it, he leaves, I cant get into my internet, (yes I did have internet,DSL) my phone jack in the living room doesnt work and I so I end up with no Vonage, no internet, the phone jack in the living room no longer functions. After this I make 3 calls to Vonage, they apoligize that the service still not running, I cancel the service and now Im stuck with a $119 early out contract fee on a service that was never rendered to me. Vonage sucks.

  1. There was a simiar thing that happened like you with my sister. She had gotten a phone call stating they were coming out to install their services.  She thought maybe her husband had called them.  Wasn't sure why.  The automative voice message asked her to push 1 to confirm the time.  So waiting to see if there was another button to push to ask questions, it just repeated to pushed 1. So she did to talk to someone.  Then started asking them if her husband had ordered something.  They wouldn't answer her question just telling her that they were going to be out at such and such time.  She got very frusterated with them not answering her question.   She tried to cancel it and they told her she wasn't on the account that the person who was on the account would have to call, that they'd be there that day at 3:00.  She called her husband and told him about this.  He said, he never authorized anything.  He tried to call but kept getting a run around from the people.  So he came home from work. to someone going to attempt to install something.  Don't know what it was, but they started arguing about them not touching a thing.  Her husband finally threatened to sue him and the company if they don't leave the primeses that they're on private property and he did not order it.

Two weeks later my sister got the same phone call.  This time she hung up.  But she gets these phone calls a couple times a month.  Crazy!  She's with a very good company that actually is cheaper then vonage and without all this b.s. stuff she had to go thruogh.  They're lucky it wasn't my husband dealing with them. LOL

So that's my story on this crazy company.  Not as bad as what you went thruogh with no 911, but that is illegal of them to do!

  2. We switched one number to Vonage, but the tech guy who came out to put all the phones that carry that phone number onto Vonage messed up the other lines. Now our fax doesn't work. He says it'a a "software problem" with Verizon.

We have a cable modem and WIFI, and if the Internet is down so is Vonage, but I suspect it works the other way too.  I am not sure the tech guy knew what he was doing.

  3. Boy! Am I glad I did not switched to Vonage, I was thinking on doing that but reading your Question, made me think twice about it, I would rather stick with AT&T.  Thank You.
