  1. Look into Skype, it's real big in Europe. Skype to Skype is free.

  2. Probably not.

  3. if you have h-speed i-net I would use skype out ..

    Czech Republic - Mobile

    USD excl. VAT $ 0.185

    USD incl. VAT$ 0.213

  4. Definitely not.  It's 22 cents per minute for calls to cell phones.  This is because in most of Europe incoming calls are free on cell phones, because the caller pays for the airtime instead.  Vonage's unlimited basic world for an extra $6/mo will let you call Czech LANDLINES for free instead of the normal rate of 6 cents per minute.

If you have to call a Czech cell phone, from my research the cheapest rate is by using a prepaid calling card.  You can call for as cheap as 8.9 cents per minute from any phone whether it be Vonage, your cell or a payphone.  They have 3 minute rounding and a twice monthly 69 cent maintenance fee but the cards come in low values such as $2 and $5 (for 22 and 56 minutes respectively) so you should use up the whole card in one phone call.  That'll save you a whole lot of money if you can plan your calls that way.  No need to change your service provider, use PC phone software or get a bill in the mail.  A card number is instantly emailed to you ready to use.

  5. Calling to Cell Phones is "always" far more expensive than to PSTN landlines.

    When possible, call to land-phones.

Better yet, if they have access to a PC, then you can call each other for FREE using any of a dozen different VoIP services using "In-Network" calling.  This is the cheapest way to call anyone anywhere in the world... no contest.

You can do this with Yahoo Voice, Skype, Google Talk, MediaRing Talk, VBuzzer, Gizmo Project, CallCentric, etc. using their free down-loadable soft-phones.

From my research, the cheapest PC to MOBILE calls to the Czech Republic that  I have found is with

    CallCentric at 16 cents/min.

CallCentric also has a free down-loadable soft-phone to use on your PC (or use configurable ATA).  But, it would only cost you 2.8 cent/min to call to land phones in Czech Republic.  (links found through my profile).

CallCentric is pay-per-call service with no contracts, gimmicks, fine print, or obligations of any kind.  You can use CallCentric to call Czech Republic and still keep your Vonage service.

I use multiple VoIP services to call different areas, depending on who has best rate to diffferent areas.  I only use Pay-As-You-Go services and do not get locked into contracts.

Bottom line - calling to cell phones long distance is not a cheap venture... regardless who your VoIP service provider is.
