Vontage phone line?

I want know if there is software preferably free that will allow my caller id info to pop up on my pc screen. I just have a regular vontage phone and a cable modem.

You can use a program called PhoneTray Free.  It's freeware, however in order for it to work, you'll need to have a telephone modem for your computer that is caller ID capable.  While most computers still come with a telephone modem, many are not caller ID capable.  The good news is that a compatible modem isn't that expensive.  You can probably snag one for around $25.  I found one for $19 including shipping and stuck it in the Source(s) list.  Just run a telephone line to the computer (after a splitter if need be), install the software and then you should be good to go.
