Voodoo Prince a threat, and Ektihaam to bounce back in the Eve Trakway Foundation Stakes (Listed Race)
The Class 1 Eve Trakway Foundation Stakes (Listed Race) has brought together seven three-year-old and above runners who are unique in their own way. There is Ektihaam and Primevere, who are dropping down in the level from the last attempt in graded company.
The mile, a furlong and 192 yard race will be hosted by Goodwood on Wednesday, 26th September.
The 11 to 1 entry for the race, Voodoo Prince, is the only contestant in the line-up who was successful in the last race that he took part in.
The four-year-old bay gelding won the City Of Ripon Stakes (Handicap) on 28th August, 2012 at Ripon over a mile and two furlongs. He was paired up with jockey, Graham Lee, for the race. The duo did not set into an early speed, and reserved the
stamina in the rear of the field over which ten were contesting.
Failing to draw clear, the four-year-old shifted towards the left of the track when there were still two furlongs to be raced. Holding on to the speed and stamina inside the final furlong had him winning by the margin of a length.
Settling as the runner-up was, Barren Brook.
The Ed Dunlop trained will get paired up with jockey, Kieren Fallon, and the team will break from the fifth gate. The two have an impressive 75% winning rate when racing together.
It is being expected that the 11 to 8 shot for the race today, Ektihaam, will swing back into form, not only due to the below par competition level, but also because of the highly probable blinkers he will have on during the race.
The last time that Invincible Spirit’s bay colt, Ektihaam, won a race was through the seasonal debut.
The Roger Varian trained conquered the season by winning the Dubai Duty Free Golf World Cup Conditions Stakes on 20th April, 2012 at Newbury over a mile and two furlongs.
Ever since then the next two career starts were won by his rivals, and the positions deteriorated miserably, a runner-up’s position and then a fifteenth ranking in the most recent attempt.
He gets to become the mount of jockey, Paul Hanagan, and has drawn the first gate to race from.
