Swansea City goalkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michel-Vorm-c25482 has called upon his club not to sell too many players during the current transfer window and look to build on the foundations laid down by former boss, Brendan Rodgers.
The Welsh outfit lost the services of Steven Caulker, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Joe Allen this summer, and are also in the risk of losing out http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Scott-Sinclair-c32675 to Manchester City.
Following the departure of some of their star players from the Liberty Stadium, question marks have been raised over the Swans prospects of repeating their last season’s performances all over again.
The Welsh club finished their 2011/12 league campaign at the eleventh spot.
Nonetheless, Vorm, who arrived at the Liberty Stadium in August last year, felt that it was pertinent on the part of Swansea to hold on to their players. He opined that Swansea might run into the risk of nullifying Rodger’s achievements over the last couple
of years, if they fall into the trap of selling too many of their players.
While talking to reporters, he said: “We have already had some changes, and I don’t think too much change is good. The new guys that we have already have fitted in perfectly, but we have to maintain what we had last season... it’s not like I think we really
need some players.”
Allen, who remained in the midst of transfer talks during the entire summer, last week completed his move to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 for an estimated 15 million pounds transfer fee.
Even though the Dutch International was chagrined to see the Welsh footballer part ways with the Swans, he confessed that his decision did not come as a surprise to him. He viewed Allen’s move to Anfield as a step forward in his career, and was hopeful that
the new signings of Michu and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jonathan-c18993 de Guzman will be able to fill his void.
He added, “For Joe it’s an amazing opportunity to show what he can do at an even higher level. For us it’s not so nice, but we have some extra midfielders already on Michu and Jonathan (de Guzman) and we have to move on.”
