The Ukrainian attacking midfielder is set to join the newly promoted Bundesliga outfit in the upcoming campaign on loan, following a disappointing stint at Dynamo Moscow.
Dynamo Moscow have confirmed that they have ended their association with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Andriy-Voronin-c6020 and that he will be transferred to German League newcomers, Fortuna Dusseldorf on loan until the end of the season. The former Liverpool star
failed to shine at the Russian capital club during his two years with the side.
The transfer results in the return of the Ukrainian international to the Bundesliga where he spent a decade earlier in his career, representing Borussia Monchengladbach, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FSV-Mainz-05-c38166, FC Koln, Bayer Leverkusen, Hertha Berlin.
The attacker started his professional career in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 with Gladbach at the age of 18 in 1997-98 season. The winger transferred to Mainz after his former club was relegated.
He was top scorer in the second division of German League with 20 goals in 2002-03 for Mainz. He then left the club to after their failure to gain promotion and joined Koln, who were recently promoted to the top division.
The 33-year-old only performed well in the German League and faced a frustrating time in other clubs such as Liverpool and Dynamo.
Voronin joined the Russian outfit in January 2010 from the English Premier League side, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 in a £4 million transfer fee but was unable to establish himself as a regular first team player and managed to net only 17 times
in 67 matches.
Fortuna Dusseldorf director announced that the loan deal is now dependent on the condition of a successful medical. There is no news yet whether the agreement has the terms of a buying clause at the end of the loan spell.
The forward has made 74 appearances for his national team contributing eight goals. He also played two group matches for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ukraine-c3032 in the 2012 European Championships but could not help them go through the group stages of the tournament.
The playmaker had the most fruitful time of his career for Mainz and Bayer Leverkusen amassing 29 and 32 goals respectively. He also had a decent loan spell at Hertha http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Berlin-c7536 but a move failed to materialise.
