  1. I don't care for autism speaks. The sites founders have lost thier way. I'd have to vote for autism society of america over autism speaks.  Neurodiversity is a bunch of nuts, stay away from them. See poster cheryls input below- This is typical of the idiocy you get  from neurodiversity.

    I like these sites.

    http://www.autism.com/

    http://www.generationrescue.org/

    Autism is treatable and reversible

  2. Autism Society of America..they have 190 local chapters (ran by professionals and parents)  throughout the US unlike Autism Speaks. There website provides much  more quality information regardless of where you are on the spectrum or even if your are not affected by the spectrum but are looking for information regarding it. They provide information about all of the Pervasive Developmental Disorders including those disorders who have similiar charteristics. They provide information about adults as well as children who are on the spectrum. They provide a career center to help autistic people seeking employment. They been around for over 40 years, they created  the Autism Awareness Puzzle Ribbon, one of the most recognizable cause-related symbols; they founded Autism Awareness Month - April.

  3. Neither. Sorry, but it's true that they do not really consider the internal motivation or feelings of those on the spectrum. Visit www.neurodiversity.com for more information on a group that is made of and by people with autism.

  4. Neither one, since they don't bother getting input from autistics. ASA is a lesser evil than Autism Speaks, which is a genocidal hate group.

Parents should STFU and let autistics and professionals work on what WE need and want. Hint: it isn't to be neurotypical.

  5. Of the two, I would have to vote for Autism Society of America. While Autism Speaks does provide some helpful information and grants to community organizations, they certainly do not represent the best interests of Autistic people. They use very negative and unrealistic portrayals of autistic children to get sympathy to raise money to rid the world of autistic people. There are no autistic people on their board. I really appreciate their efforts to raise awareness and provide grants to community organizations for education and employment, I can't look past the other problems.

  6. Definately Autism Society of America             Autism Speaks does not speak for spectrumites (my own little term for Auties and aspies combined) "Autism Speaks" speaks for parents and family only. not to mention Autism Speaks are major curbies.  Autism Society of America has its share of curbies but its more of a neutral thing.  Plus Autism Society of America cares about human rights of spectrumites and providing services for them not only in childhood but adulthood as well .  Autism Speaks doesnt deal well with Adults on the spectrum, especially when they are higher functioning.
