  1. Of course law abiding people have nothing to fear, then they change the law and you are not law abiding any more.

I must admit i am beginning to worry even more.

Someone fouls you up at an airport and treats you like dirt and you call them a rude name   in sheer frustration, whois in the wrong --- YOU

  2. I believe that this is a good move and should also be used against people who allow their dogs to c**p on the pavement.

Let me tell you, we could all benefit from a national socialist government in Britain, we should all want a country to be proud of and the BNP is the party to back to bring it about.  88

  3. This is very disturbing.

We all know that this government needs ousting at the soonest opportunity, but with less than 25% of the population using their vote, we have to put up with it.

Jacqui Smith is the worst thing that ever happened to the police, its no wonder that staff moral has never been so low.

  4. This is part of an unseen agenda of control tactics to be implemented in a time of national emergency (war or civil unrest) .Watch out for more as time passes. And get rid of Labour at the next election, we are part of the Euro state now and that is the only thing of interest to ANY of the b******s,

  5. Jacqui Smith should be taken out of office as she does not have a clue about what the people want from its police force.

For gods sake whats happening to law and order in this country we have trained police officers who are paid to do their job so let them do what they know best and all these meddling politicians should keep out of it.

How many more "idiots" are we going to see in uniforms patrolling the streets and how many of them will it take to be killed or seriously injured before the Government realise they have made a big mistake

    again.

I am in total support of our police being given all the power and tools they need to do their jobs and instead of wasting millions on these people the Government should spend it on more officers and encouraging more people to become Special Constables instead.

This Government has done nothing for this country except get everyone in debt increase crime on our streets and bring in loads of "new" laws that nobody understands.

I for one will be glad to see the back of all these Power mad idiots and get policing done by the professionals.

  6. There are some valid comments in the article:

'The public want to see real police on the streets discharging these responsibilities, not private firms who may use them inappropriately - including unnecessarily snooping on the lives of ordinary citizens.'

The one above being just one of them that I agree with.

I wonder who Ms Smith will call upon to deal with the potential problems that arise when these ‘officials’ come unstuck when using these new ‘powers?’  Something else that the already stretched Police serivce will have to deal with.

Maybe one day the government will see the light and realise that we need more ‘real’ Police on our streets and less red tape.  If we had these things rather than ‘dishing out’ our ‘powers’ that come with the office of constable, we’d then have more time to proactively patrol the streets looking for criminals, thus preventing crime in the first place, rather then reacting to the crimes that are happening whilst we’re in the station filling out forms.
