I live in Michigan and I'm going to Navy Boot Camp in Great Lakes, IL Sept. 10th, 2008. I will be there until mid to late November; so how will I vote for President if I'm in Boot Camp? Do they give us absentee ballots or do I need to register for one now or what?

  1. Absentee Vote will be the way to go.

  2. you register to vote by enlisting

and I'm pretty sure they will march you to a voting booth

the military is pretty big on the democratic process

but they'll count all your votes as republican LOL

  3. Go to http://mynavyonline.com it's great for support, ideas, advice, etc. Plus other DEPrs are there as well as active and retired sailors. You will need to ask for an absentee ballot and your mom can send it in a letter to you and you can send it back. Go to the forum for a much clearer answer.

  4. You should register to vote before you go to boot camp.  Once there, the Navy has voter assistance officers who can help you sign up for an absentee ballot for your home town.

The military is very big on its members voting, but they do not tell you how to vote.  Much of the military does vote Republican, but each individual votes the way they want to.
