I was wondering if you are emancipated, are you allowed to vote or do you still have to wait until you are 18? How does this differ from other countries? Are there any countries that allow people under the age of 18 to vote?

  1. Nope, emancipation only allows you to leave home or marry, you are still subject to child labor laws and Prohibition against voting and the use of cigarettes and alcohol.

In Austria, Cuba and the Isle of Man the voting age is 16.

    Hope I helped.

  2. Emancipation does NOT allow you to vote.

Contrary to popular belief, the Constitution does not require anyone to be 18 to vote.  The 26th Amendment prohibits denying the right to vote on the basis of age to anyone 18 or over.  If a state set the voting age lower, that would be legal.'

The only case I am aware of where any US state allows anyone under 18 to vote is in PRIMARIES where the voter will be 18 before the GENERAL ELECTION.

  3. You must be 18.

  4. Any Country that would allow anyone under the Age of 18 to vote would be foolish. People that young have no real world experience on which to base such a decision.Which is most likely why so many Young people support Obama. At that age it's all "the world should be this way",rather than reality. In fact I think the Voting age should be raised to 21,the only exception I would make is those serving in the Military.

And NO,being Emancipated makes no difference, you still have to be 18.
