Voting when you reach Level 2?

why is that those that get the right to vote whether a question or answer is good always seem to give those that are vaild a negitive vote

Ive noticed so many times that answers seem very honest and geniune yet people abuse the voting that you can at level 2 to make an answer look c**p

I thought and believe that the voting should be done if a question or answer is rude racist or stupid (e.g when people answer a question with dont know and thanks for 2 points)

does anyone see the same or feel the same

  1. My votes reflect how I feel.  If I don't agree with a statement, I'm going to give it a thumbs down, even if it is valid.  It's a way for me to show how I feel, you know?  It gives the question another level to work on, it makes it more like a conversation.  In any given conversation, I'll disagree with tons of things people say, not just the rude or racist comments.

  2. i agree completely

but u gotta understand that there our people out there who have no life and just live to torment people with the littlest things

so if you don't like it contact yahoo and tell them about it.

  3. To a certain extent I agree with you.  I have wondered why people give a legitimate question a thumbs down.  I have to say, if I do rate a question or an answer, which I hardly ever do, I try to be fair.  If it is considered abuse I give it a thumbs down.  I don't usually give a thumbs up unless the question really impresses me.  I do give a thumbs down to the "thanks for the 2 points" because I agree, that is not what this is supposed to be about.

  4. how many points i need to get on level 2 ?

  5. The idea behind voting is good, however due to this website's reliance on "good" human nature, it fails just as bad as it has failed with many other websites that use "Rep" (reputation) mechanisms. This is especially worse on this site as voting an answer negative increases the chances of their own answer being chosen as best answer (thus more points). IMO, users should be given a maximum allowance of negative and positive votes. Say 5 negative, 5 positive per day each. This will at least slow it down...

On a side note, just as in real life, people tend to express their opinions more often when things are headed in a negative direction (ie. you don't call and praise your car company when everything goes ok, but you'll call and complain when something breaks). I think this also has an effect on it.
