Has anybody ever voted wrong on jury duty?

Do you think that it pissed off the judge. As long as you do not admit it I don't think the judge can do anything. Also can the judge make someone change there vote?

  1. I have known people in the past who served on jury duty were bigots.  If I was accused of a crime and I was innocent, I would never have a jury trial!

  2. A judge does not care, or know, how any juror voted unless the jury is unanimous.  Then he would poll the jury to determine if they all voted the same way in order to protect everyones rights, and announce the verdict as rendered.

  3. Hey Mary.

    My question for you is.....

    Why?

Why would you want to make a mockery of our justice system?

It is one of the cornerstones of our freedom that we as citizens have a right to trial by a jury of our peers.

To lie about how you feel about the facts in a case defeats the whole purpose of it.

I pray that you will never need to hav to have the fate of someone who has wronged you put before a group that want to lie.

  4. While you may not like the judge in the case, your job as a citizen is to take care of the people's business and in a trial, that is to render justice to the people before the court.  So, you vote "wrong" to p**s off the judge - well, people get hurt.  The litigants, the county that pays for the court rooms and your fellow jurors that took time out of their day[s] to sit on that jury.  How can you feel that is a worthy thing to do?

  5. A lot of the juries, are formed with common people does not have legal education. A jury should be familiar with the fair legal process rules in order to find justice. A lot of jury members follow their feelings and not the reason and are easy  manipulated by dramma or exageration.

  6. A juror can vote yes or no without giving a reason for the vote.

Everyone else can get real upset with a juror, but if they don't offer a reason for the vote, it is simply a vote.  On any given day the members of the jury are the law.
