Vow closing in on her first graded win in the Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes at the Ascot
Competing in the Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes (Fillies) are fourteen three-year-old remarkable runners who have proved themselves time and again. The mile and four furlongs’ race marks to be the second on Thursday, 21st June at the Ascot. The winner
will get rewarded with £77,092 prize money.
The Fugue remains to be the highlight of the race today with 2/1 odds and a third position in the Investec Oaks under her belt. An interesting entry for the race today is The Queen’s bred, Momentary, Nayef’s three-year-old bay filly out of mare, Fleeting
Memory.
The lightly raced has two races on her profile, a fourth position in the career debut and then a victory in the very next try. She won the Swettenham Stud Fillies’ Trial Stakes on 18th May at Newbury over a mile and two furlongs. It was a well
earned win with a slight short head’s margin from the reeling in rival, Shirocco Star.
The two will confront each other again today.
One of the most commendable entries for the race is Vow, Motivator’s three-year-old bay filly out of mare, Frog. Her three career outings at three different venues resulted in two wins and a fourth position.
She proved herself through the career debut by bagging the Whitley Stud Maiden Fillies’ Stakes (Division I) on 20th April at Newbury over a mile and two furlongs.
She took charge of the final length and finishing right behind was Everlong while filling up the third slot was Devine Guest.
Her second race found her to be the 11/10 favourite winner of the Betfred “The Bonus King” Oaks Trial Stakes on 12th May at Lingfield over a mile and four furlongs.
Riding with Johnny Murtagh, she led the runner up of the race, Colima, by 3 ¼ lengths. Coming at terms with the third position was Estrela.
Colima and Vow will share the race track again today and will collide for the Group 2 title.
A jump from a listed race to a group 1 race had the three-year-old finishing fourth in the Group 1 Investec Oaks on 1st June at Epsom over a mile and four furlongs.
Heading on with the 6/1 odds Vow will be accompanied by Johnny Murtagh for a straight fourth time and at a fourth different race course.
