  1. vtech and uniden are garbage...

panasonic are the best brand of phones..

DECT is the best type of cordless phone..

you probably checked all this already, but heres a few troubleshooting tips..

first make sure the main base has power, that the "wall wart" power adapter is connected to a working power outlet, and that it is connected securely to the back of the phone..

place the handset on the main base (if this is an expandable handset, put the handset that is "searching for base" on the main base, not a charging cradle) for a few seconds to re-register the phone to the base...

try moving the phone and main base away from other electronics, especially microwaves, wireless routers, tvs, computers, etc...

try a diffrent power outlet doubtful, but possible that the electric circuit is "dirty" or noisy and causing a problem..

if these steps do not work you are SOL and the unit is defective, or receiving some kind of outside interference...

  2. i had the same problem and returned it.it's a defect.
