Vu Thi Trang slays Kessler Verdet in Women’s Singles encounter – Sudirman Cup 2013 
Vietnam’s emerging badminton player, Vu Thi Trang, made her presence strongly felt when she gave a severe lesson to Australia’s Kessler Verdet in Women’s Singles encounter at Sudirman Cup 2013 in Malaysia, on
Tuesday, May 21.
Vu Thi, who worked very hard in the training sessions to prove her worth at international tournaments, played top quality badminton and easily sent Kessler packing while taking only 31 minutes.
Vietnamese player started her journey on court in a dominating way and played with impressive precision. Her game plan and perfect execution earned her a great victory in straight games with a comfortable 21-16
and 21-10 score on the board.
On the other hand, Kessler showed good resistance in the opening set but could not maintain her rhythm in the following set. She committed many errors that caused her suffer with a straight-set defeat against
Vu Thi.
Both players went neck-to-neck right from the initial stage, as they took the bird early from all areas and kept the pace at the maximum level. However, Vu Thi gradually increased her speed and managed a small
lead until the end of opening half in the first game.
After the interval, Vietnamese lady started to dictate the pace of rallies and stretched her lead. She controlled the pace in the concluding points and won the first set with a reasonable margin of 21-16.
In the following set, Vu Thi was in complete command from the opening points and managed a comfortable lead. The powerful drives and positive play at net helped Vu Thi to stretch her lead until the mid-game interval.
Vietnamese shuttler continued playing with aggression after the mid-game interval. She did not let her challenger to narrow the gap at any stage. Kessler missed many easy chances to earn points and also executed
several negative smashes that helped her rival to stay ahead on the board.
Vu Thi sailed smoothly in her aggressive play and managed to end up the second game by putting up a smashing 21-10 total on the score board.
