Newcastle United have been dealt a fresh blow as midfielder Haris Vuckic has been ruled out for the rest of the season following a ruptured cruciate ligament.
The midfielder was stretchered off in the under-21 match against Aston Villa, and has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after scans revealed a ruptured cruciate ligament.
This adds to Newcastle’s list of injured players, most of whom have returned, but still not a 100 per cent fit.

There had been a lot of expectations placed on the club following their fifth place finish in the league last season. The club has however failed to live up to all the hype and been unable to make an impact.
The likes of Fabricio Coloccini, Cheick Tiote, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Danny-c10193 Simpson, Tim Krul and Ryan Taylor had all been injured during the opening weeks of the new season. Taylor has been ruled out for the remainder of the season, and now will be joined by Haris Vuckic as the
club’s injury woes continue to grow.
Vuckic had featured for the club three times this season following his transfer from NK Domzale in 2009. Speaking to the press about his injury, the player said:
“I immediately knew that something is very wrong and I suspected that it could be cruciate ligament and the medical examination proved that. Now I have to wait for the swelling to go away. Then I will have surgery and four to six months of rest.”
“It is very difficult, especially mentally. But I know, that I will be okay, I know that doctors will take care of me, but it will require time and a lot of patience.”
Manager Alan Pardew called for support from the club’s fans during his time on the sidelines and said:
“I think Haris knew straight away it was a serious injury. If our fans want to send him any messages, I think that would be appropriate, because he is hurt.”
