Vulcanite potential favourite for Betfair Don´t Settle For Less Novices´ Hurdle at Newbury
Vulcanite is most likely to display a dominating show in the Betfair. Don´t Settle For Less Novices´ Hurdle at Newbury on Friday, February 17, 2012. According to the preset plan, the £3,249 event will commence at 1:50.
The going is good to soft, and ten fast and furious contestants are set to take part in the 2-mile and 110-yards race.
The 10 rampant runners to invade the field include:
ALL THE ACES
COLOUR SQUADRON
MONTBAZON
VULCANITE
OSCAR´S SECRET
PRESENTING ACE
ROYAL COMMISSION
TANERKO EMERY
TARATATA SIVOLA
TORY MASSINI
It is quite tough to declare a favourite in today’s lineup, but a statistical analysis will help us find out the one with the highest chances to spark.
Vulcanite holds obvious chances, as the five-year-old is stepping in with a classy success under his belt. On January 18, the gelding was a delight to watch, as he wrested a comprehensive triumph in the Ladbrokes Game On! Novices' Hurdle at Southwell.
The Charlie Longsdon trained horse has started in a couple of hurdle races so far in his career, and holds a fair track record. His spirits are high, and the rest of the pack will find it difficult to overcome his swift speed. The horse will be ridden by
jockey Paddy Brennan, veteran rider with 184 hurdle wins to his credit.
Among the opposition, Colour Squadron, will fancy his chances. The six-year-old gelding has been doing a wonderful job since his debut in October last year. Out of his three hurdle outings, he sealed one victory, and finished second on a couple of occasions.
In the 32Red Hurdle at Sandown last month, Philip Hobbs’ horse lost to, Captain Conan, just by a short head’s margin. Richard Johnson will aim for an error free ride, to guide his horse to victory.
Another horse with decent chances is, Montbazon. The five-year-old is Alan King’s trainee, and will be ridden by Robert Thornton. He is also coming into this race with a win under his belt.
On January 30, the spectators at Plumpton witnessed a marvellous show, as he topped the chart in the attheraces.com Track Your Favourite Horse Maiden Hurdle. It was a forceful performance by the French bred, outperforming, Victor Leudorum by a staggering15
lengths.
All The Aces, cannot be taken lightly as well. He was also victorious in his previous run at Newbury. Destroying, Destroyer Deployed, by four lengths, All The Aces, nabbed an easy win in the Betfred 1350 Shops Nationwide Charity Introductory Hurdle last
year.  However, the seven-year-old gelding will face a lot stronger rivals this time around.
Prediction
Vulcanite, Colour Squadron, Montbazon and All The Aces, all have reasonable chances. Yet, one can expect, Vulcanite, to beat the rest, because Newbury’s stiff surface will suit his running style. Regardless of who wins the title, it will be a rip-roaring
event.
