  1. No need to reinstall Windows.

    Download this: http://free.avg.com/

Its AVG Antivirus and it will wipe out Vundo and any other malware on your computer. Works very well and its free.

    Hope this helps!

  2. reinstalling windows should be last measure, trojan

    vundo can be cleaned.

    http://spywaretrojanremover.com/compare

  3. Download VundoFix here (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php...

    Instructions:

    - Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.

    - Click the Scan for Vundo button.

    - Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.

    - You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES

    - Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.

    - When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.

It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.

    Hope this helps.

*Edit* I had the same virus myself last December. (I had no firewall and wasn't watching what I downloaded).

    Some tips to prevent this:

--Download a firewall if you don't already have one. Here's the one I use; it's safe and free (http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/)

--Download an antivirus application (I use AVG too)

--Be careful what you download. Scan anything you download before running it.

  4. I got rid of vundo without reinstalling windows. If you reinstall windows you will lose all the files like music ect. But it is the surest way to remove vundo. Try running superantispyware free edition in safe mode, by pressing F8 as the computer starts or restarts. You may need to run it a couple of times or choose different scan option by scanning specific folder that you are suspicious of. Since it's vundo virus, you need to delete things in the registry. (after scanning, it will tell you if the infection is in the files, memory, or registry) It will tell you the address in the registry and you should personally delete them if possible. Please back up the registry before deleting the infection. (type "regedit" in RUN box)

*AVG did not work for me...=(

I had to download another antivirus. (Try Ahn Lab V3 if possible.. it will protect PC in the future)

  5. The vundofix very rarely works on the newer strains, you will probably need virtumundobegone aswell. AVG doesnt touch vundo, its useless. Follow the instructions here:

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t...

IN REPLY: if you are worried you can right click on any file/program and choose to scan it with your antivirus program. Id still recommend using virtumundobegone. A virus can make a system unstable, so if you are planning to reinstall, id recommend you reformat and do a clean install rather than a repair install.

  6. Yes, but if you have Vundo, you can download VundoFix here: http://vundofix.atribune.org/

    Then download Malwarebyte. http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
