The Newcastle United target’s agent Harry Lulofs insists that the Eredivisie champions must resolve the situation quickly, as a move to the English Premier League is too tempting for his client.
Ajax Amsterdam versatile midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vurnon-Anita-c36486, has long been linked with a move away from Amsterdam Arena to join a top flight club this summer, with Newcastle United tipped to be the favourites in landing his signature.
The Dutch international, who has been plying his trade at the Eredivisie giants since the summer of 2005, has now insisted that he wants clarity over his future.
The 23-year-old, who has an ongoing contract at Amsterdam Arena that runs until the summer of 2014, has also revealed that he will be meeting with the club’s new sporting director, Marc Overmars, to discuss about his future.
“I've two years left on my contract. But I want some clarity from Ajax about my future. We have a meeting with Marc Overmars, the club's new sporting director, to get a clear view of what the club wants”, Anita was quoted as saying
to the media.
The defensive midfielder, who can also play at the left-back position, has thus far played over 100 matches for De Joden. His exceptional performances at the centre of the pitch for the Amsterdammers in the last couple of seasons
have garnered him interest from several European clubs including Sunderland, Fulham, Norwich City and Aston Villa.
The Dutchman’s agent, Harry Lulofs, has confirmed that interest has been mounting in his client, and a move to play in the highest echelons of English football is tempting his client to leave the Amsterdam-based club.
“There is serious interest from Newcastle. A move to the Premier League is so tempting for him. We have to resolve the situation quickly”, Lulofs said while talking to journalists.
Meanwhile, the Ajax head coach, Frank de Boer, has made it clear that his side does not want to see their star player leave in the ongoing summer transfer window.
“We'll do all we can to try and keep Vurnon here. He's a very valuable player”, De Boer stated while talking to the Dutch media.
