Vw golf gt tdi mk5 whistling sound ?

hi, i have a whistling sound coming from my engine, we have now found where it is coming from throughe listening throughe a s***w driver, the exact place is the turbo/manifold area, will be investgating more this weekend, just wondered if any body had any ideas what is causing the whistling, and hoping it is not the turbo itself gone wrong. the pitch of the whistle goes up on acceloration and comes down when foot taken off the pedal.my car is only 3 years old with 35000 miles. any help would be much appreceated.

  1. If it's too much you might want to get the valve checked. I have the TSI version and after installing the forge intake I could hear it pretty loud and it wasn't the sudden "pfft" sound but a more trailing whistling sound. A week ago I got a check engine light and took it in. They had to replace the valve with a newer version (apparently the old type kept breaking down on most people) and no I can't hear the sound any more. So too much whistling mind indicate you are losing boost.
