Vyvanse medication for a 9yr old?

is a 50mg dosage for a 62lb year old boy normal? He suffers from hyperactivity and his mother insist on upping his dosage constantly. Here at his step moms we give him 20 mg and he is fine. When he was on the 50mg he is zombie like and his mom doesn't even notice. My sister his step mom said that her friend had this problem and they started her out on a 20mg and she is a grown woman probably weighs like 120lbs or so. I took psycology and i don't really believe in doping up a kid on all kinds of medicine maybe all the child needs is more patience and attention. What do you think, i think that this is wayyyyyyy tooo much!

omg =0  that's wayyyyyy too much!  i once had a really bad cold that i catched from my friend and my parents gave me a thousand different kinds of medications since the doctors were closed for the holidays. when the doctors re opened, my dad made me an appointment and told the doctor that he gave me more than one kind of medication. the doctor asked me if i get drowsy and sleepy and i said yes. he told my dad that its dangerous because im taking too much medication that makes you sleepy and drowsy. he said if he gave me one or two medications would be alright but 5 different medications will just make me sleepy since all the medications i took worked together and made it too powerful. he also said that it would've been even more hazardous if it was a school day and i took those medication the night b4. thank god my school was closed 4 the holidays or else i would've been sleeping in math class and get detention the next day XD  yes it is way to much and i really reccomend that you take him to his pediatrition or his doctor. by the way, don't give him any more medication unless you get the okay by his doctor. maybe that's why he've been acting strange. when i was done with my nape since the medication made me sleepy, i acted really strange. when my parents questioned me about something, i had a blank expresion on my face and really didn't care what they said. i actually ignored them. if i wasn't sick and they questioned  me about something, i'd get annoyed and i question them instead =) well, hope i helped again, take him to the doctors . the doctor will give him the appropriate amount of medications =) plz answer my questions (puppy dog face) when i have one in the future =) thanx
