If i start a sole proprietorship, will i have to file for an EIN in order to write myself checks from my business name (DBA). I want to write myself checks in order to show stubs to build my credit (FOR EXAMPLE, stubs to show proof of income to get a car, apartment, and random other things where I need to show check stubs from my job).

  1. I applied for EIN though it was not required because I do not have employees. My bank required me to apply for a fictitious name and have it recorded at the county office. My bank was not interested to see my company's EIN.
