  1. If you're talking about the dual ins requrement for north pacific and north atlantic operations you cannot us dopler in place of a second ins. At least for dispatch.


  2. A multi-lobe Doppler radar that transmits 2 beams at an angle to the flight path may also provide you with drift. Given the groundspeed and drift, you can manually calculate the wind.

    As for replacing an inop INS, the Doppler is not the best choice, but if it's your only one, then you could use it to verify that the remaining INS is still operating ok.
