  1. When I was 28 (many years ago), I moved from Melbourne to Brisbane and it was the best thing I ever did. I came here in June and will never forget how wonderful it was to be able to sit on the front verandah in the sun without freezing to death. Our winters are beautiful (and dry) and I actually find our summer to be more bearable than Melbourne's. It's not nearly as humid as people say and you never get the awful series of 38+ days (without any relief at night) that Melbourne turns on every summer.

From a work point of view, Qld is really booming in just about every area. People are very friendly, there's heaps of nightlife in Brisbane and the Gold and Sunshine Coasts are only a short drive away when you feel like a change. Melbourne's restaurants are the best in Australia, but Brisbane is catching up and I don't think you'll have any complaints on that score.

I love Melbourne and visit every year, but wouldn't live anywhere but here.

  2. I don't know what the NSW or Qld stand for, but here in Washington it rains a lot, and is cold... a lot.

I think California or some midwest state would be more fun.

(Whoa! It's the end of the world! So many people below me freaking out! I assumed this was a U.S. question because it appeared in that general category. I wasn't even looking at Yahoo! Australia. I should've checked though because it seems that I have upset a lot of sensitive people. I didn't know an off-topic answer could hurt people so much, and I apologize for the pain I have caused.)

  3. QLD.  Beautiful weather.

  4. I think Queensland

but I expect it will depend on whether you have friends or family in any of these places

If you have neither anywhere I guess it really won't matter because you will have to start over wherever you go

Good luck you can do it

  5. Coming from VIC I think you would be much more comfortable in NSW. The states are very much the same, the main differences being theres no trams in NSW and the weather is slightly warmer.

NSW/ Sydney is great for nightlife, restaurants, cafes, etc..

QLD is a much more touristy place to live, even in Brissy it lacks what atmosphere there is in Sydney and Melbourne.

WA is a slower town, steadily growing but still doesnt feel like home.

The only negative to NSW is that it is the most expensive state in Australia. But comparable to VIC there is no great difference.

  6. QLD by far, people here are so relaxed and down to earth ( not to say that it is not like that in WA or NSW) however talking from experience, i found moving to QLD a smart idea.

it was easy to make friends, very social and talkative bunch.

There are also endless amounts of things to do here, however its up to you really, what you wish to do.

I know im biased, i live here!

  7. It would depend on where in each of those states you would be relocating to.

If you're talking about the capital cities then I'd chose Brisbane.

Why do some answerers think the USA is the centre of the universe?

  8. I find some parts of QLD to be perfect but other parts not very pleasant. So would depend on the actual area the work is offered in.

My favourite areas in QLD are the Sunshine Coast and Far North Queensland. Mining areas are over priced for anyone not a miner.

I prefer QLD to NSW due mainly to housing costs though this is rapidly changing and the gap narrowing.

Brisbane is a city I had little time for but recently seems to be coming of age and may well rival Sydney and Melbourne very soon. A person your age may enjoy this emerging gem.

NSW has the most beautiful beaches between the two and the south coast is wonderful as too is Northern NSW.

Sydney is very stressful to live and too much time on roads or in trains. However for young people great nightlife. Overall though unless you are wealthy you get poor quality housing in a boring suburb and pay a very high price for it.

I have not been to WA for a few centuries so will not comment on the state though the mining boom seems to be well established for years to come. Maybe become the wealthiest state (if not already).

  9. def Washington. Haha nah WA. Awsome state, ive spent alot of my life in sydney and much prefer Perth. Perth is much cleaner and safer, and the nightlife is better in my opinion. The beaches are also better!

Problem with Perth is its the most isolated main city in the world, but that can also be a good thing, up north are some of the best places to go, simply cause noone else goes there.

  10. NSW! sydney is the most amazing city. Out in WA, where Perth is, theres not a ton to do - and it gets wicked hot. QLD is cool - very beachy/hot. i vote NSW tho.

ps. to the r****d above me, WA = Western Australia, NSW = New South Wale, QLD = Queensland. They are Australian states, not American one.
