WARNING: Slight Gore?

This just occurred to me out of the blue, but how come it really bothers us to see cut up body parts and blood splattered everywhere and severed limbs of humans but not of fish or bugs or anything else that's not our species? Well, for most of us anyway...

  1. It is called being human, we are the predator species, at the top of the food chain and social animals as well , so we are hurt by the loss of one of us,

To quote John Donne, "no man is an island, entire of itself, each is part of the main,  a piece of mankind, so it  diminishes me when I see a man die, therefore, never send to see, for whom the bell tolls , it tolls for thee",

    I can say no better....

  2. I think A T has said it all in his quote. To add anything would be superfluous.

  3. if i see cut up human body parts in a movie, i find it amusing, b/c, i know its just a movie. the bloodier the better i say :) i have seen someone gut a deer and skin it, while it was hanging by its back legs. that bothered me. by the sight and the smell! i would probably throw up if i saw cut up human body parts in real life. i could probably take the sight of it, but, not the smell. i can imagine the insides of a human smell just as bad as the insides of an animal.

  4. That's easy.

When you see a person chopped up (yeesh) you know that that person had a life, and a family and was a part of something... they laughed and cried and yelled, and now they are nothing more than pieces.

A fish or a bug, even though i still don't like seeing ANYTHING chopped up, are still just creatures. They basically just exist, they don't know what's happening, so it' s not a big deal... no one will miss them tremendously
