Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up.

It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed.

Every morning a lion wakes up.

It knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death.

It doesn't matter whether you are a lion or a gazelle.

When the sun comes up, you better start running.

  2. Hahaha "corollary" what a douche

I found myself thinking, as I read your proverb, that it doesn't matter how fast you run, one of you will die, and one of you will win the catch.

If ones whole model of society is based on running (keyword here: comparison) FASTER than other people, then one misses all opportunities other than those for competition.

And if ones whole model of society is based on not being the slowest, then one doesn't give themselves the opportunity to discover their limitations.

  3. The corollary to that is:  "Some days you're the windshield; some days you're the bug."
