WBC gives deadline for Wlodarczyk-Palacios fight negotiations – Boxing News
The WBC has ordered to carry out necessary negotiations to make the fight between Wlodarczyk and Palacious happen, as revealed by Josue Aguilar trainer of Palacios. According to him, the WBC has further ordered a purse bid to happen on March 30 in Mexico
if both the camps are unable to reach an agreement.
Francisco ‘The Wizard’ Palacios is the mandatory WBC cruiserweight challenger with 21 wins, 1 loss and 13 knockouts in his bag, while Krzysztof Wlodarczyk, the WBC champion, stands with 46 wins, 2 losses and 33 knockouts in his bag. Both the fighters had
their first encounter in the ring on April 4, 2011, in the Bydgoszcz arena in Poland. Wlodarczyk won through a split decision over Palacios, which was seen by many as an unjust decision. Fans and analysts were neither impressed with the results nor with the
performances of both the fighters.
As of now, both the fighters seem frustrated over the on and off dialogues between their camps for a rematch. Expressing his annoyance, Wlodarczyk said, “I’m a cruiserweight champion of the most prestigious organization in the world – the World Boxing Council.
Of course, I prefer to have great challenges, like fighting Guillermo Jones, Yoan Pablo Hernandez, Antonio Tarver or the most lucrative ones. I thought that we had an agreement with Antonio, but I’m hearing rumors, that he decided to go an easy and inexpensive
way. I’m surprised that Showtime accepted such an average fighter like Lateef Kayode.”
He further said that he will fight anyone his promoter will sign and that this is the rule he has always followed. He added that he wants tougher challenges but if he does not get any then he will fight Palacios again. He got a bit harsh with his words saying
Palacios was running like a rabbit in their last 12-round encounter and later on, he was crying like a 12 months old baby over the decision. He concluded saying that he hopes this time Palacios would actually fight him.
To reply, Palacios said that he wants to thank his promoter Don King and President of WBC Jose Sulaiman for ordering negotiations to be held. He then addressed Wlodarczyk as ‘lady’ and said that ‘Diablo’ knows very well who was better in the ring in their
last encounter.
As of now, both the fighters and their camps are forced by the WBC to start the negotiations.
