WBC suspends Dereck Chisora from taking part in WBC sanctioned fights – Boxing News
Taking into consideration the annihilation Dereck Chisora has caused to the boxing world and to himself, the World Boxing Council Supreme Board of Governors held a meeting to decide if Dereck Chisora should be allowed to fight or not. Unfortunately, for
Chisora, the WBC decided not to let him participate in any fight that is sanctioned by the WBC. According to the verdict, Chisora was fined and suspended until he completes a medical anger management program. Chisora was summoned to the meeting but he did
not show up.
When Team Chisora got to know about the verdict, they did not hesitate to release their prompt reply to it. “The response of the WBC is heavy-handed and inconsistent with the approach they have taken over other fighters. The WBC did not take away Floyd Mayweather
Jnr’s belt after he pleaded guilty to beating his ex-girlfriend and the mother of his children. He retained his welterweight title and the WBC went on allow him to fight for a WBC belt against Miguel Cotto on 5 May, his sentence for the crime being put back
to allow him to do so,” the statement from Chisora’s camp stated.
The response further said that they are not surprised by the decision and they were already expecting Chisora being sanctioned heavily by the WBC, as the president of both the WBC and BBBC is the same person Charles Giles. According to Team Chisora, this
was an expected outcome.
In other words, Dereck Chisora is now suspended by the WBC as well. Previously, his license was revoked by the British Board of Boxing Control in the wake of his misbehaviour against Vitali Klitschko, Wladimir Klitschko and David Haye. The BBBC suspended
Chisora’s title for an undefined period and recommended him to take undergo anger management program.
Chisora is scheduled to take on David Haye on July 14 at the Upton Park in London, a fight that is not being sanctioned by the BBBC but by the Luxembourg Boxing Federation and the World Boxing Organisation. The match has become the most controversial bout
of this year, with a lot of officials standing against it.
