WBO President Francisco Valcarcel wants Juan Manuel Lopez to show cause – Boxing News
President of the World Boxing Organisation, Francisco Valcarcel has revealed that the World Boxing Organisation Executive Committee has passed a resolution against Juan Manuel Lopez. The resolution came in as retaliation to Juanma’s comments against referee
Roberto Ramirez in an interview to Showtime, following his defeat to Orlando Salido.
According to Francisco ‘Paco’ Valcarcel, Juan Lopez must “show cause why he should not be suspended for one year, and neither appear in the WBO rankings or fight for any regional or world WBO title.”
Juan Manuel Lopez’s comments have set fire on a global level against referee Roberto Ramirez and his son Roberto Ramirez jr. Orlando Salido technically knocked out Lopez in the 10th round of the bout on Saturday night. Even though Lopez give in
his best and scored better than Orlando on two cards, Orlando’s technical knockout stopped Juanma from taking the win.
After the match, Lopez was pretty frustrated since this was his career’s second ever defeat at the hands of Orlando Salido. Lopez was riding an undefeated career just when Orlando Salido beat him for the first time last year. He lashed out on the referee
on Showtime saying, “In the first fight his son stopped the fight and now he stopped it. And he and his son are two gamblers. They are betting with some people from the town where I live. They are two gamblers and the Commission knows. I told them that he
was a gambler and it’s very irresponsible for the commission to put him as a referee knowing he has a gambling problem…I’m well aware of what I’m saying and I could have still continued.”
Later on, Lopez emailed his apology to Roberto Ramirez, which was not accepted by the latter. Ramirez demanded an official apology from Juan Manuel Lopez in a press conference in order to save his reputation, which is now in jeopardy due to Juanma’s comments.
As of yet, Juanma has not apologised to Ramirez on any channel or media conference. While Ramirez said he will not file any official complaint, it seems like the WBO has stepped in to make rectifications to the case.
