WBO declares Manny Pacquiao winner against Timothy Bradley – Boxing News
The World Boxing Organisation presented its findings for the Pacquiao vs. Bradley bout that was on June 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. According to all the five international judges that were on the panel, Pacquiao defeated Bradley by a huge margin. Not
a single judge rated the fight in Bradley’s favour, making it pretty obvious that the judge at the ringside were not fair enough.
The scorecards prepared by the five judges on the panel showed scores of 117-111, 117-111, 118-110, 116-112, and 115-113.
After the public uproar on Manny’s controversial split decision loss to Bradley, the World Boxing Organisation was compelled to review the fight to ensure there was nothing suspicious with the results. However, President of the World Boxing Organisation
Paco Valcarcel had previously notified that no matter what the findings will be, the World Boxing Organisation is not authorised to revoke the actual fight results.
After announcing the review decision, Paco again mentioned, “Even if I saw Pacquiao win, the decision of the judges is legal and their decision cannot be revoked by us.”
Bradley injured his feet during the encounter with the world’s most explosive fight. However, after the match, when asked, the new WBO welterweight champion claimed he is ready for a rematch any day. Nevertheless, now Bradley believes he is not in the position
to fight Pacquiao in November again.
Bradley iterated, “I think the fight was really close, it could have gone either way. I'm all for it. Nov. 10, let's do it. November or December, if he wants to do the rematch, why not? All this (controversy) would be taken away. Let's do the rematch and
settle it once and for all.”
For now, it seems like the WBO’s verdict will only console Pacquiao’s fans and well-wishers and nothing else. The contract between Pacquiao and Bradley already had a rematch clause. Therefore, the WBO’s review and its authorisation of a rematch will not
bring a difference to the whole situation. If possible for the sides, Pacquiao and Bradley might go head to head once again in November for the WBO welterweight title.
