WCL Division One: Ireland Defeats Canada, Books its Berth for the Final, Afghanistan, Scotland Win

Kenyans couldn’t chase a small target of 173 and stumbled to 166 all out in the 49th over of the match. Afghanistan defeated the hosts by 6 wickets by chasing down a target of 203 runs in the 43rd over.
The 10th Match of the WCL Div 1 was played at VRA Ground, Amstelveen, where Canadian Captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/George-Dockrell-c59135 and Andrew White took 2 wickets each.
In reply to the 154 total, the Irish openers gave their team a confident start of 50 runs in 10 overs (Stirling made an overall 35 runs, and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Balbirnie-c44286 made 17). Canadian bowlers took their side back into the game by taking 3 wickets in the coming four overs of the play. O'Brien and Mooney (both undefeated) scored a match-winning 61 runs on their 5th wicket stand to guide the Irish side to a comfortable victory in the 40th over of the match. Kevin O’Brien of Ireland was declared Man of the Match for his unbeaten 43 runs and 2 wickets.
In the 11th match of the WCL Div 1, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/GD-Drummond-c1475 won the toss for the Scottish side and elected to bat first. The Scottish side was able to put up 172 runs on the loss of 8 wickets in their allocated quota of 50 overs. Fraser Watts and Moneeb Iqbal were the highest scorers for their side with 50 and 36 runs respectively. Thomas Odoyo and James Ngoche took 3 wickets each for the African side.
The Kenyans, in reply to the 172 overall score, lost two wickets in the first 10 overs of the play. Alex Obanda (39 off 53 balls) and Jimmy Kamande’s (34 off 64 balls) 42 runs partnership gave some hopes to the Kenyan side, but the next 5 wickets fell by just adding 21 runs to the total. In the 12th match of the tournament, Afghanistan won by beating the hosts Netherlands comprehensively in Sportpark Westvliet, Voorburg. Afghanistan won the toss and elected to field first. Netherlands were shaky in the start of the innings, but progressed to 202 at the loss of 8 wickets in 50 overs.
